Network Information
Network MapNote: 3D Host has ceased all hosting operations and no longer accepts new customers. This page remains for historial purposes.

All three of our servers are located within the United States of America. Our Web server (which doubles as our ActiveWorlds object path server) is located in the EV1Servers data center (formally known as RackShack) in the state of Texas. This allows people from both the East and West coasts of the United States (as well as other countries) to have an equally fast connection to the server.

This server is connected to the EV1Servers network, which can support an amazing amount of bandwidth and has redundant connectivity. Currently, the network has over seven Gigabit links, over five GigE links, one OC-3 line and one DS3 line.

It also uses multi-homed bandwidth. This means that even if one or more backbone connections stop working (for whatever reason), there are several more in their place to take the fall and keep things running smoothly.

Our primary ActiveWorlds world server is located in the state of Florida in the DataColo data center. It is connected to a diversely routed fiber optic dual OC-3 backbone with Level(3) and Genuity as backbone providers. The network can automatically select the quickest route from the server to your computer so data always moves smoothly and without delay.

Redundant connections ensure that if one link would fail, another is there to pick up the slack. Network utilization is kept to a minimum and more capacity can be added at any time.

Finally, our ActiveWorlds bot server (which doubles as our secondary ActiveWorlds world server) is connected to a high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) in Pennsylvania. Bandwidth statistics are gathered directly from the router itself and bandwidth usage is carefully monitored to ensure that lag is kept to an absolute minimum.

We aren't like other "wannabe" hosts who use slower and inferior ISDN lines or oversubscribed cable access that will degrade when more and more people connect to one central node. We try not to skimp on hardware, either, because we know that even if you have the best connection in the world, it won't mean anything if your server can't handle it.
